Amongst all the rookies who have risen in stardom in recent years, Dominik Mysterio's development as a heel has arguably been unprecedented. He has adopted the "Dirty" Dom moniker, which Dutch Mantell recently quipped that it might have been stolen from him.
WWE fans would remember Dutch Mantell (fka Zeb Colter) as the manager of The Real Americans but during his in-ring days, Dutch was probably one of the toughest wrestlers in the game.
He became a well-known figure as "Dirty" Dutch Mantell from the beginning of his career in 1972 until the 1990s. These days, Mantell is one of the leading experts in pro wrestling and regularly shares his thoughts on the business on his podcast and for Sportskeeda Wrestling.
During the latest episode of Sportskeeda's Smack Talk, Dominik Mysterio's nickname was mentioned, and Dutch Mantell hilariously claimed that it had been blatantly stolen from him by WWE.
Mantell put the pieces together and was confident that he surely inspired WWE to add the prefix to Dominik's official in-ring name. Dutch, as always, was at his jestful best when he said the following:
"Oh, I can't do that. I would never admit to that. And I think they watched the show and saw Dirty and said, 'Hey, Dirty D, Dirty Dominik, fits right in!' What's his last name again? Mysterio! M! D, D, M! Dirty Dutch Mantell. See? It fits right in. And they stole it from me. Guess how much money I got for it?" (Nothing) [From 47:00 onwards]
Dominik Mysterio continues to be one of the most hated heels in pro wrestling and, thus far, has done everything to warrant being called "Dirty" Dom in the WWE.
