WWE Superstars are often forced to retire due to a combination of age-related wear and tear or career-ending injuries sustained in the ring. Recently, the former World Heavyweight Champion, Sheamus, shared his thoughts on retirement while emphasizing his enduring passion for the sport.

During a recent appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, The Celtic Warrior reflected on how much longer he intends to wrestle. He revealed his intention to wrestle well into his 50s, having recently signed a new five-year contract with the Stamford-based promotion.

The former three-time WWE Champion expressed his passion for the sport and his desire to continue competing as long as his body allows

"Not really. Again, I just signed a new five year deal. [So that'll take you into your 50s?] Yeah, my wife reminds me all the time, 52. Listen, I'll go to the wheels fall off me. Could do it until physically I can't do it anymore. I love what I do," he said. [H/T: CVV]

Sheamus also acknowledged the possibility of regret for wrestlers who retired prematurely, citing his own experience with a neck injury as a potential exception.

"I mean, look, if I had to hang up my boots when that stuff happened with my neck, I’d be at peace with it. Because sometimes you can tell that when they have retired before their time there is a little bit of regret there," he added. [H/T: CVV]

Sheamus vows to win a major WWE championship very shortly

The Irish Curse has been a fixture in the Stamford-based promotion since early 2006. In his 19-year career with WWE, Sheamus has captured every title except for the Intercontinental Championship. Only one title eludes the 46-year-old star, preventing him from achieving grand slam status in the company.

In the same interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Sheamus expressed his desire to become the Ultimate Grand Slam Champion by capturing the Intercontinental Title.

"Ultimate Grand Slam Champion. It's basically the first one to win everything. It's true King of the Ring as well is in there, Rumble, all the rest of them," he said.

Only time will tell if The Celtic Warrior can potentially defeat the reigning IC Champion, Bron Breakker, and claim the coveted title.
