Seth Rollins recently addressed his relationship with a current top WWE Superstar. He claimed he has real-life animosity towards him.
The Visionary was part of The Shield when the group worked closely with CM Punk following their main roster debut in 2012. He and The Best in the World were friends in real life before the latter left the company two years later. However, their relationship turned sour following the 46-year-old's departure.
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, the former World Heavyweight Champion revealed that Punk ghosted him after leaving WWE despite their mentor-mentee relationship:
"We were friends till he left, you know. And we had a mentor-mentee kind of relationship, you know, at that point because I was a lot younger. So, like, I did not push. I sent him some texts and called him after he left but I wasn't, like, comfortable enough with him to like, because, like, we weren't, we were peers but he was here [up] and I was here [down]. So, I didn't wanna like push that envolope. So, after a while I just let it go," he said.
Rollins disclosed that he reached out to The Second City Saint to check on him and see if he was interested in returning to WWE. However, the latter never responded. He explained that he now has resentment and animosity towards Punk:
"And then even over the years, I reached out to him a couple of times, to try to like engage and just see where he was at and if he was interested in coming back and nothing, no response, except whenever he would get a chance, he would just talk as much cr*p as he could. And so, yeah, I had all of this stuff bottled up for 10 years to finally be able to get out there on a microphone and say it. And it's probably not even articulated the best it can. But there's just so much real, I mean, hatred is a strong word, but it's as close to hatred as you can get. [Animosity?] Resentment, animosity, like, just anger." [18:21 - 19:29]
During the same interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Seth Rollins claimed CM Punk wanted his friends to follow in his footsteps and leave WWE after his departure. He added that The Second City Saint felt betrayed that they did not.
The Visionary stated that Punk expecting him and others to leave WWE because he did was one of the most selfish things he had ever seen out of a human:
"It was one of the most selfish things I'd ever seen out of a human. Like, leaving the way he did and then kind of like expecting other people to follow him and then taking shots at the place from a distance when he wouldn't even explain to his friends like why he was so resistant to continuing that friendship. Like, I never got an answer out of him," he said.
Last Monday, Punk defeated Rollins on RAW's debut episode on Netflix. It will be interesting to see if The Visionary gets another shot at his fierce rival.
