WWE legend JBL recently sent out an emotional message after a beloved veteran of the wrestling business, Black Bart, breathed his last a few hours back. Bart, a revered name in the industry, died after a prolonged illness at the age of 76.

Apart from his work in the NWA territories, Bart was also a part of Stamford-based promotion, where he worked for a year from 1990-1991. After a decades-long career that began way back in 1975, Black Bart officially retired in 2002. He was also a noted wrestling trainer, with one of his students being JBL.

Dr. Chris Featherstone of Sportskeeda Wrestling confirmed the news on his X account after speaking to Bart's wife, Linda Harris.

Check out his post below:

"Linda Harris, Black Bart's wife, called and informed me that Black Bart has passed away. He "took his last breath" at 3:45am and was officially pronounced dead at 5:26am. Linda stated that he's "in no more pain" as she mourned for the loss of her husband while we were on the phone. I prayed for her and the family, which lifted up her spirit," he wrote.

The WWE veteran had been sick due to liver cancer, and it was recently revealed that he had been brought back home after refusing to undergo chemotherapy.

WWE legend JBL pays tribute to Black Bart

Soon after, condolences began pouring in, with the wrestling universe uniting to remember the legendary wrestler. WWE legend JBL shared a heartfelt tribute for his former trainer by sharing a picture with him on his X account.

"Black Bart took me under his wing and taught me how to be a professional wrestler. We were tag champs in Texas-but we were also just buddies. We sat together in the dressing room while Bart spit in his trashcan and constantly joked about everything. Bart meant the world to me. I love you big brother. RIP," tweeted JBL.

The Sportskeeda Wrestling community extends its deepest condolences to Black Bart's family and friends in their moment of grief.
