Gunther vs. Damian Priest is set to take place at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames in Canada for the World Heavyweight Championship. Meanwhile, former WWE star Matthew Rehwoldt predicted former Universal Champion Finn Balor could appear at the event to affect the match's outcome.
Finn Balor was once a major name in the Stamford-based promotion as he became the inaugural Universal Champion. Unfortunately, The Prince relinquished the title due to an injury that he suffered in the championship bout against Seth Rollins at WWE SummerSlam 2016. The veteran hasn't recovered from that loss and has taken a backseat as a member of The Judgment Day.
Meanwhile, Damian Priest turned himself into a bonafide star while working in the same faction, and that didn't sit well with The Prince. Speaking on the Rebooked Wrestling Podcast, Matthew Rehwoldt (fka Aiden English) agreed with his host's prediction that Finn Balor would cost Damian Priest the upcoming title match at WWE Survivor Series 2024 against Gunther.
"I think that works [Finn Balor's interference]. I think that takes care of everybody. I think they still feel very confident in Gunther as a World Champion," Rehwoldt said. (From 1:03:20 onwards)
Earlier this year, Finn Balor showcased his true intentions to the world when he turned on Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam, due to which The Archer of Infamy lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther in Ohio.
Later, the former World Heavyweight Champion feuded with The Judgment Day for a while and received a one-on-one match against Finn Balor at WWE Bad Blood in Atlanta. After losing to Priest, Balor stated he was not over, and The Prince would come after him.
Lately, Balor and JD McDonagh have been busy defending their World Tag Team Championship on Monday Night RAW. However, the veteran hasn't forgotten about Damian Priest and even helped Dominik Mysterio alongside The Judgment Day to get a win over The Archer of Infamy.
The Prince and his protege successfully defended their titles against the War Raiders, and the upcoming event could be the perfect place for Finn Balor to cost Damian Priest for the second time in less than a year. It'll be interesting to see which star walks out of Canada as the World Heavyweight Champion.
