Chelsea Green has been one of WWE's breakout singles stars in 2024. Former WWE talent EC3 worked for TNA at the same time as the 33-year-old and played a role in the creation of her Hot Mess nickname.

Green returned to WWE in 2023 after previously working for the company between 2018 and 2021. The new Women's United States Champion also appeared in TNA between 2016 and 2018 before returning for a short run between 2021 and 2022.

On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 praised Green's acting skills in her TNA romance storyline with Braxton Sutter and Grado:

"Chelsea, I've been a huge fan of since she came into TNA. She's always had a great personality and great character, work's fine, but, yeah, dude, in TNA when I knew she's probably gonna be a star is when we did some stupid wedding angle with Grado. But then she had the makeup running and the Bridezilla, then she wore the dress for the duration of the time." [1:18 – 1:46]

EC3 also revealed he suggested a variation of Chelsea Green's Hot Mess nickname when she performed as Laurel Van Ness in TNA:

"I'm like, 'Hey, you know what would be a cool nickname for you, is The Hot Mess Express,' and then she used it because it's a cool name and I'm smart. But, no, it's good she's succeeding." [1:47 – 1:55]

EC3 recalls his conversation with Chelsea Green

Like Chelsea Green, EC3 has had multiple spells with TNA and WWE. He also held the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship between August 2023 and August 2024.

The 41-year-old added that he was involved in a group chat called "The Hot Mess Express" when he mentioned the name to Green:

"I would not say that she took it and ran with it in conversation," EC3 said. "I was in a text group with a bunch of babes that was called The Hot Mess Express. I said, 'You know what would be cool? The Hot Mess Express. It rhymes.' And she said, 'Okay,' and maybe she used it, maybe she didn't. But matters not because great creative is collaboration." [2:29 – 2:48]

On the topic of United States Champions, former WWE writer Vince Russo explained why Shinsuke Nakamura is not "over" with fans.
