Brock Lesnar was dubbed The Next Big Thing by Paul Heyman upon officially arriving on WWE RAW. Almost twenty-three years later, Heyman still has one of the best minds in the business, and Lesnar is still one of the most dominant wrestlers going. The mind behind ECW's success shared an up-close observation about his longtime client and revealed when he was surprised by Lesnar's charisma.
The One Behind The One in 21-1 led The Conqueror to five WWE Championship reigns, three runs with the Universal Championship, plus victories in the 2002 King of the Ring, the 2019 Money in the Bank Ladder Match, and the 2022 Royal Rumble. WWE has had no real match for Heyman's creative mind and excellent mic work, combined with Lesnar's raw athleticism and natural charisma.
The Beast Incarnate is undoubtedly one of the most dominant wrestlers to ever step inside the squared circle, or the UFC Octagon. Speaking to Andrew Korpan of ClutchPoints, Heyman discussed Lesnar's dominating physical presence and how it was "terrifying" to look at him from across the ring. The ECW Original recalled going to the ring first, and then hearing Lesnar's music hit, only to see him "literally fill your eyesight" from the entrance ramp. Heyman declared Lesnar to be like nothing he's ever experienced.
"He fills the frame of your sphere of vision and you just sit there and say, 'Oh, my God, what species is that?' He's like nothing else I have ever experienced, and it's funny because for 20 years, I did that walk down the aisle with him. I never knew what it was like to be in the ring watching it come at you. You just sit there and start thinking, 'I hope the insurance is paid up for my kids,'" Paul Heyman said. [Via clutchpoints.com]
The Mayor of Suplex City still managed to surprise The Special Counsel at times, despite their lengthy, close friendship. Lesnar's previous babyface run was a hit with fans as he showed up to RAW and SmackDown with more of a casual attitude, cutting promos while wearing cowboy boots and blue jeans. It was noted that Heyman was even more surprised at the level of charisma the former UFC Heavyweight Champion had.
Brock Lesnar has been away from WWE since losing to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023. His January 2024 return was reportedly nixed after his name was alluded to the Vince McMahon scandal from the lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant, and nothing has been official since then.
Paul Heyman recently provided a look at how private Lesnar's home life is. The Special Counsel made the remarks when speaking to ClutchPoints, who asked if the fans would ever see Lesnar in WWE again.
"I don't have that answer because Brock Lesnar is not in the public eye, which affords him a level of privacy that I would never violate. So, if Brock Lesnar is of the desire to ever be in the public eye again, he'll let you know when the time is right. He's earned the right to that privacy. Brock Lesnar's a private man, a private beast. Should he wish to be in the public eye, he will be, and should he wish never to be seen again, you've seen the last of Brock Lesnar," Paul Heyman said.
At one time, WWE was distancing itself from Brock Lesnar, presumably due to the Janel Grant lawsuit. However, Lesnar was recently mentioned on WWE TV, and there have been more signs that the company could bring The Beast Incarnate back to the storylines soon.
