Former WWE manager Jim Cornette recently spoke about the fan backlash against Hulk Hogan. The legendary wrestler and veteran manager Jimmy Hart appeared on the Netflix premiere of RAW.
The Hulkster was one of the several legends who appeared on WWE RAW's debut on Netflix. Hogan was on the entrance ramp and cut a promo for the fans, but the fans in the Intuit Dome booed the veteran. Even Jimmy Hart, who is otherwise loved and respected in the business, had to face the harsh fan reactions.
In a recent episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, the veteran expressed sympathy for Jimmy Hart, who, despite being 80 years old, showed up for the event. Cornette explained that the boos were directed at Hogan, but Hart too was at the receiving end because he was sharing the stage with the Hulkster at that point.
"There's poor Jimmy, the nicest guy in the building is back there waving that flag. He's 80 and he was moving better than Hogan was. Hogan looked crippled and his arms are gone. Jimmy's 80 years old, he's waving that flag and the poor guy, he has to get Hogan's residual boos. Not just the video and general heat he had before, this seemed fresh. We keep hearing you, we keep seeing you, you're full of sh*t everytime we do and we don't want to hear no more of you. This is a new day. Stay out of our Godd*mn business." [2:39 - 3:20]
During the same conversation, Cornette expressed shock and disbelief at the intensity with which fans booed Hulk Hogan.
He wondered if it was because of his controversial video from 10 years ago. The wrestling veteran felt that fans were probably tired of Hulk's lies and just wanted him out of the business.
"This was an example of we don't care whether you've been a star or not, as a person, we hate the f*ck out of you. Has he just lied and bullsh*tted? We know about the video, that was 10 years ago," Jim said.
It will be interesting to see if WWE tries to bring Hulk Hogan back into their weekly programming to generate more heat for the veteran.
