Gunther got a new contender for the World Heavyweight Championship on WWE RAW as Jey Uso stepped up to The Ring General and challenged him to a match at the upcoming Saturday Night's Main Event. However, wrestling veteran Vince Russo is not in favor of the match.
Jey Uso has established himself as a credible singles wrestler over the last year. Fresh off the victory over Drew McIntyre on RAW's Netflix premiere, the OG Bloodline star challenged Gunther for a World Heavyweight Championship match at the upcoming WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. While The Ring General refused the challenge by stating that he'd already beaten Jey twice, the match is still likely to occur.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo noted that Jey shouldn't get a third opportunity against Gunther after losing on the previous two occasions.
"This is the equivalent of... you say two out of three, and when the guy wins two, it's like, ‘No, no, it’s three out of five, no, no, it’s four out of seven.’ That’s what it is. Here’s the bottom line: if he beat Jey Uso twice, there shouldn’t be a third time. He beat him twice, bro. There shouldn’t be a third time," Russo said. [From 51:56 onwards]
Jey Uso has come up short against the Imperium leader on multiple occasions if we also count the untelevised matches. The duo had a brief rivalry when the Ring General was the WWE Intercontinental Champion.
