CM Punk has been playing a huge role in guiding young WWE Superstars through frequent visits to the developmental brand. Recently, NXT Champion Trick Williams discussed how consulting The Straight Edge Superstar motivated him to acknowledge his real-life relationship with Lash Legend on television.
On the March 12, 2024, edition of NXT, Williams called out his former rival Carmelo Hayes. However, The Meta-Four interrupted Trick, leading to an unexpected moment when The Anointed One kissed Lash Legend, confirming their real-life relationship.
In a recent interview on Ten Count Media, the reigning NXT Champion revealed that he discussed the idea of working a storyline with his real-life partner, Lash Legend, with CM Punk. The Best in The World recalled his experience of kissing AJ Lee on WWE TV and encouraged Trick Williams to pursue the storyline.
"I was talking to CM Punk, who just happened to be around this day [of NXT taping]. I was like, 'Punk, what do you think about working a storyline with your actual partner?' He's like, 'I did do that. I kissed AJ [Lee]; actually, our first kiss was on TV.' I was like, 'Oh, so it all worked out for you.' Yeah, we [are] doing this," he said.
Despite initial hesitation, the 30-year-old WWE star was now grateful for the opportunity to work with Legend and acknowledged her talent. Trick Williams added:
"Now, you have the Trick and Lash [Legend] storyline. That's how the whole thing went down. I was very hesitant about it, but I'm glad we did, because working with her was a lot of fun, and she's so talented." [From 01:54 to 02:40]
