It's hard for a WWE Superstar or pro wrestler, for that matter, to stay retired. Shawn Michaels stayed true to his promise until 2018 when he laced up his boots again. Analyst Sam Roberts recently discussed the possibility of The Heartbreak Kid stepping out of retirement in 2025.

Shawn Michaels last wrestled at WWE Crown Jewel in 2018 when he reunited with Triple H to beat The Undertaker and Kane in an infamous tag team match. Since his one-off outing, he has seamlessly transitioned into an executive in NXT. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative.

Recently, he was engaged in a physical altercation with Eddy Thorpe, which sparked speculation about him possibly wrestling again.

On the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts entertained the thought of Shawn Michaels teaming up with NXT Champion Trick Williams to face Eddy Thorpe and Je'Von Evans in a tag team contest.

"Is Shawn Michaels gonna wrestle again? Because if it's Eddy Thorpe vs. Shawn Michaels, I'm in. If somehow you can find a tag team partner for Eddy Thorpe, maybe a Ridge Holland and you do or even All Ego, All Ego is having a hell of an arc. The way All Ego put Je'Von Evans in the dirt. Maybe it's All Ego teaming with Eddy Thorpe vs. Shawn Michaels and Trick Williams. Maybe it's Ridge Holland and Eddy Thorpe vs. Shawn Michaels and Trick Williams. However you want to do it, I'm okay with the tag match too."

The WWE analyst said HBK could tell a compelling storyline and bring eyeballs to the product.

"I don't think Shawn should do this every year. I think this being a one-off, you can tell a hell of a story. You can build up to - He's not really gonna do it, he's not really gonna do it. You can have Shawn going around, doing interviews going like, 'No, no, no, I'm never going to wrestle. But yeah, there have been problems, and get it to the point where he goes, all right, scre* it. I'm wrestling.'" (From 57:43 - 58:57)

Shawn Michaels has refused to wrestle former WWE Universal Champion

In an interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Kevin Owens revealed that he has been trying to convince Shawn Michaels to face him, but the WWE Hall of Famer continues to turn him down every year.

"Well, the answer is always Shawn Michaels and I really try pretty much every year. I think I'm done trying now, though. I think he's pretty much—it's three years running, he's politely said no to me."

Shawn Michaels, at 59, is way past his prime. But stranger things have happened in pro wrestling before. Will The Heartbreak Kid lace up his boots in 2025? Only time will tell.
