Eric Bischoff may have defeated WWE for 83 consecutive weeks. But, the former WCW official is also inadvertently responsible for giving RAW one of their biggest triumphs in the history of this business.

Speaking on a recent episode of What Were They Thinking? on Backstage Pass, JBL commented on Eric Bischoff's decision, which had Tony Schiavone leak the outcome of the WWE title match between The Rock and Mankind match to WCW viewers - causing millions of households to switch over to RAW.

"This was all part of the snowstorm, you know, the avalanche going against WCW, so when they're doing this, it's kind of a last ditch measure. That's why I didn't see it as bad as Mr. Brisco did, as far as giving away the things. I thought it was a little bit of desperation and maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. It certainly backfired, which they certainly didn't plan. But if it hadn't, if it'd been anybody but Mick Foley, it probably wouldn't have backfired."

He continued:

"They probably would have, you know, because it was Foley and he was such a beloved character and he was such an underdog. People wanted to see him win the title because it was a huge event. I'm not sure why we would put in hindsight the real question, what were they thinking? Why would they put Foley winning the title on the tape show? What the hell were we thinking?" Mick Foley reprised one of his iconic personas at an OVW event over the weekend. It remains to be seen if the WWE Hall of Famer will appear on RAW's Netflix debut.
