Former WWE Champion John Cena began his Farewell Tour with his first stop on RAW's Netflix debut. Following the show, an NXT star, who was almost fired, issued a challenge to The Franchise Player.
In a storyline during mid-2024, Brooks Jensen was banned from WWE after a series of erratic behaviors, including interfering in matches and disrespecting authority figures. The 23-year-old star's actions led to his suspension and ultimately his 'release' from the company.
However, recognizing Jensen's potential, Shawn Michaels and Ava decided to reinstate him, giving him another chance to prove himself and redeem his career. Interestingly, the NXT star's father, Bull Buchanan as B-2 (B²), appeared alongside Cena from November 2002 to January 2003. This partnership dissolved when the 16-time World Champion betrayed the 56-year-old veteran.
During his promo on RAW's Netflix premiere on January 6, 2025, John Cena addressed rumors about his potential opponents during his retirement tour, including Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, Logan Paul, Gunther, and Cody Rhodes.
After the red brand, Brooks Jensen shared a video on Instagram and claimed that The Cenation Leader mentioned a lot of WWE names but overlooked one. The former NXT UK Tag Team Champion seemingly alluded to John Cena forgetting his father, Bull Buchanan's name, and issued a challenge, stating he would see Cena soon on his Farewell Tour.
"You said a lot of names, but you forgot one. I'll see you soon, John [Cena]," Jensen said.

During the same promo on RAW, The Face That Runs The Place stated that there's a possibility he can win a record-breaking 17th world championship. Cena claimed he could enter the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble Match, win the multi-man spectacle, and potentially create history at WWE WrestleMania 41.
In an interview with Lightweights Podcast, backstage RAW interviewer Cathy Kelley pointed out that John Cena's thoughtful and intentional career planning likely includes strategies for potentially achieving a 17th World Championship.
"I think potentially, he [John Cena] is someone that [sic] puts so much thought into his career, and what he does and is so intentional about everything, especially when it comes to the world of wrestling. So, I feel like, he's probably thought of things that we can't even fathom," she said.
Only time will tell if WWE has any plans to feature a match between Brooks Jensen and John Cena before the latter's retirement.
