A current member of WWE RAW recently opened up about the start of her pro wrestling career. Isla Dawn of The Unholy Union credited a wrestling power couple for helping her train, calling them her "wrestling mum and dad."

Dawn began her career in 2013, starting on the independent scene in the United Kingdom. She participated in the Mae Young Classic in 2018 before signing a WWE contract to become part of the NXT UK brand. She moved to the United States four years later and began teaming up with Alba Fyre.

The Unholy Union won the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship at Stand & Deliver 2023, and were called up to the main roster a month later. Dawn feels she wouldn't have succeeded if she didn't get some help from her "wrestling mum and dad," Big Damo and Nikki Cross.

"My uncle had connections in Scottish wrestling and put me in touch with Big Damo and Nikki Cross, who came in to explain about the physicality of it all. They're like my wrestling mum and dad. They kept encouraging me, and saying I'd be good at it, so they shepherded me into starting training," Dawn told BBC in an interview.

For those who don't know, Big Damo was previously signed to WWE under the ring name Killian Dain. He's the real-life husband of Nikki Cross, and the couple was once part of Sanity.

Isla Dawn recalls winning WWE Women's Tag Team Title in Glasgow

The biggest moment of Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre's career so far is winning the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship at Clash at the Castle in their home country of Scotland.

The Unholy Union defeated Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair, and Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark in a Triple Threat tag team match to win the gold. In the same interview with BBC, Dawn recalled becoming champion in front of her hometown fans at OVO Hydro in Glasgow.

"To win a title in WWE is what everyone wants, it's real dream come true stuff, but getting to do it in Glasgow was extra special. I remember when we walked out for our entrance and got in the ring, I could see my family sitting in the second row. That was such a nice moment as they don't get to see me wrestle that often," Dawn said.

The Unholy Union held the title for 77 days before losing it to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill at Bash in Berlin.
