Vince McMahon resigned as a board member of WWE's parent company TKO in January 2024 after former employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against him. Vince Russo, WWE's head writer in the late 1990s, recently addressed the "fractured" relationship between McMahon family members.
In July 2022, McMahon's son-in-law Triple H replaced him as WWE's creative figurehead after misconduct allegations emerged. Stephanie McMahon, Vince's daughter and Triple H's wife, became WWE's Chairwoman in her father's absence. However, she immediately left the company upon his short-lived return as Executive Chairman in January 2023.
On The Hannibal TV, Russo speculated that Vince McMahon might no longer be in contact with Stephanie and Triple H:
"I mean, there's no question, man, that the McMahon family is fractured. No question about that. I would highly doubt, highly doubt, that Vince has a relationship with Stephanie and Triple H. Now, I don't know any inside information. I do know the players and I do know the game and I do know what I've seen." [30:08 – 30:34]
Russo reported directly to Vince McMahon during his stint as a WWE writer. In 1999, he left the company after the former WWE boss advised him to hire a nanny to look after his children.
In July 2024, Shane McMahon was pictured meeting with All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan. The image prompted speculation about the 54-year-old potentially joining AEW one day.
According to Vince Russo, Vince McMahon probably has a better relationship with Shane these days than he does with Stephanie and Triple H:
"It would be highly unlikely to me that Vince has a relationship with Stephanie and Triple H just based on the way the story is laid out. I do believe Vince has a relationship with Shane." [30:35 – 30:51]
In the same episode, Russo explained why he is "tired" of watching a popular WWE storyline play out on television every week.
