WWE fans have been sitting on a potential Roman Reigns vs. The Rock match for the past few years. A new report has emerged with a game-changing note regarding this dream bout following Dwayne Johnson's appearance on RAW's Netflix premiere.

Upon his return to WWE on January 6, 2025, The Final Boss embraced a babyface persona. The Rock showered praise upon Cody Rhodes and the Original Tribal Chief, acknowledging their contributions to the company. The 52-year-old legend also honored Roman Reigns with the Ula Fala following his victory in the Tribal Combat Match against Solo Sikoa.

These recent developments have fueled speculation among fans that a potential match between the two Anoa'i family members may not materialize. However, according to a new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), the idea of The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is not dead and WWE could still pursue the dream match in the future.

While WrestleMania remains a potential platform, the report also suggests that other high-profile premium live events, particularly those offering lucrative opportunities, could also be considered. Ultimately, the decision rests with The Great One, who must determine his willingness and availability to undergo the rigorous training regimen he deems necessary to prepare for the match at his current age.

WWE legend comments on when should Roman Reigns vs. The Rock take place

Among several veterans, Bully Ray aka Bubba Ray Dudley recently shared his opinion on when Dwayne Johnson should face his cousin in the ring. He discussed this on an episode of the Busted Open podcast.

The WWE Hall of Famer stated that the highly anticipated match between The Rock and Roman Reigns must happen at WrestleMania 41 due to its significant box office potential worldwide:

"Rock versus Roman is too big a box office all over the world for it to never happen, and I would say it kind of has to happen this year at WrestleMania. Because if we get all the way to next year, who the hell knows? I mean, Vegas is the perfect place for this, the perfect opportunity for this," said Bully Ray.
