WWE is keeping its own forbidden door wide open for Lyra Valkyria and other superstars set to be announced for outside bookings in the near future. Officials have allowed Valkyria to take a booking for her big homecoming. The RAW Superstar has only worked for WWE since March 2020, but that is about to change. Sources have just revealed new details on how the announcement came to be, internal reactions, and what Triple H and his team have in store.
The Lady Of The Opera has been announced for Over The Top Wrestling's The Dream Before Christmas event on Saturday, December 21 at The Complex in Dublin, Ireland. OTT is also now billing this as The Homecoming as Valkyria is from The City Of A Thousand Welcomes. She is set to reunite with her former Woke Queens partner, Debbie Keitel, but no matches or firm plans have been announced as of this writing.
OTT sources were surprised to see Keitel returning to OTT with Valkyria. A new report from Fightful Select adds that many people within OTT did not find out about the return until it was announced on social media. Lyra appeared at OTT ScrapperMania earlier this year to cheer on fiancé LJ Cleary.
Backstage sources noted how the Woke Queens reunion is expected to be a really special moment for the Irish grapplers. Valkyria's appearance comes after Finn Balor and JD McDonagh returned to OTT for the 10th Anniversary show in late October, where they defeated The Social Elite. Sources noted that the RAW Tag Team Champions made a major impact on Irish wrestling with the aforementioned OTT appearance, and Lyra's homecoming is expected to leave the same impression.
WWE was expected within OTT to do more crossover with the popular promotion, but not so soon after the 10th anniversary show held last month. There has been talk of smaller promotions signing contracts with WWE before superstars are able to make outside appearances.
Triple H kept WWE's own forbidden door open in a major way over the last year as the company worked with TNA, AJPW, and GCW, among others. The Chief Content Officer is set to continue this trend more often next year as this latest update reveals that more WWE names are expected to start being announced for European indie promotions in 2025.
Lyra Valkyria last wrestled in the Contender's Battle Royal won by IYO SKY on the November 4 episode of RAW from Saudi Arabia. This came after recent Main Event wins over Zoey Stark and Alba Fyre and a recent RAW loss to Stark.
This week's RAW featured a new teaser vignette for Valkyria. The Irish Superstar called out the RAW women's division, then declared that she was coming for everyone.
Valkyria previously held the NXT Women's Championship for 164 days in 2023 after dethroning Becky Lynch. Lyra dropped the title during WrestleMania XL Weekend last April, to Roxanne Perez, who is still the current champion.
