The tournament to crown the inaugural Women's US Champion is now firmly underway. Twelve of the best and the brightest stars in the Women's Division are going head-to-head, with two matches already in the books. It is safe to say things are heating up, and the fans are here for it.
There are still two matches left. The first Triple Threat will see Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, and Elektra Lopez butt heads. The second, features Michin, Piper Niven, and Jade Cargill (assuming she is still fit to compete). We even have one semi-final set, as Bayley is set to take on Chelsea Green.
However, who faces who and who progresses further may not matter anymore. Why? Because from the looks of it, the WWE Universe has already decided who the next Women's US Champion will be. And her name, much to the surprise of many, is Chelsea Green.
Perhaps the most obvious hint that Chelsea Green is a lock-in to become the inaugural Women's US Champion is what happened last night. Despite sharing a ring with one of the most beloved superstars in WWE, Bianca Belair, Green was the one receiving much of the love from the WWE Universe.
This obviously comes as a surprise, especially considering how loathed Green is both by members of WWE management and the locker room as a whole. Nevertheless, it seems she at least has Salt Lake City on her side. And when the fans speak, Creative usually listens, suggesting a big push might just be around the corner.
Hate her or love her, there is no denying that Chelsea Green has been receiving a ton of support online regarding her wish to become the inaugural Women's US Champion. And this is something that The CCO Triple H usually takes note of. The Game keeps a close eye on social media activity and tends to pay heed to what the fans want.
The outpouring of support for Chelsea Green is something that will not have gone unnoticed. There is a good chance that WWE's CCO gives the fans what they want, and books The Hot Mess to come out on top in the tournament.
Perhaps the biggest hint that Chelsea Green will be the first Women's US Champion, is how confident she is. Now, it's a fact that she has always been overconfident. Over the years, she has convinced herself that she deserves every opportunity under the sun, and when she is handed one, things usually do not go as planned for The Hot Mess.
However, something about this one feels different. Green has been going ballistic on social media, claiming she will be champion, even going so far as to demand that it be handed to her immediately. What's even crazier, is the fact that most of the WWE Universe is backing up her claim. No matter how you slice it, it feels like she will be the one to win the Women's US Championship.
