Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is scheduled to host the Royal Rumble in a couple of weeks, and the excitement is palpable. The event is the first major PLE of the calendar year and is the starting point on the Road to WrestleMania. Considering this, there are rumors that Triple H and co. are considering bringing back two former winners on the night.
The two former winners in this situation are Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Ric Flair. The Hall of Famers won two of the earliest editions of the Royal Rumble match, which, so far has been conducted a whopping 37 times. Duggan came out on top in the inaugural edition in 1988, and Flair exactly four years later in 1995.
Now, PWInsider Elite reports that WWE is thinking about inviting Ric Flair and Jim Duggan to the Royal Rumble 2025. Due to their advanced ages, it is doubtful that they will actually compete in the Rumble. However, they may still have some engaging interactions with the current superstars during the event.
At the end of the day though, there is no telling what they will do at the Rumble, let alone if they will be in attendance. After all, this is just conjecture, and nothing has been set in stone.
It is currently unknown if WWE icons Ric Flair and Jim Duggan will show up at the upcoming Royal Rumble event. While their attendance remains uncertain, one legend, John Cena, has officially stated that he will be there. The 47-year old will not just be at the event, but will also be participating in the Rumble match.
The Leader of the Cenation returned at RAW's recent premiere on Netflix, months after he announced his retirement tour at Money in the Bank 2024. He came out and duped the WWE Universe, informing them that it was impossible for him to win a record-breaking 17th World Championship.
However, after some quick calculations, he changed his mind, and announced his participation in the Rumble match.
Now, all eyes will be on Cena heading into the event. Can he come out on top and secure himself a championship match at WrestleMania 41? Only time will tell.
