Real Madrid secured a comfortable 3-0 win away at Leganes at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque in LaLiga on Sunday, November 24. The result sees the visitors move to 30 points from 13 games, while the hosts remain a lowly 14th with 14 points from 14 games.
Real Madrid made a dominant start to the game in terms of keeping possession and creating chances. They pushed Leganes back into their own half with 68% of the ball in the first period, but had to wait until late in the first period to break the deadlock. With the teams still goalless approaching the interval, Vinicius Junior assisted Kylian Mbappe for 1-0 after 43 minutes.
Los Blancos attempted a total of seven shots in the first half, with four of those on target. Their midfielders Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Ceballos did well to help retain possession to keep Leganes out of the contest. In doing so, Real Madrid looked comfortable and prevented any shots on target from their hosts despite two attempts.
The visitors carried a slender one-goal advantage into the break.
The second half saw both Borja Jimenez and Carlo Ancelotti turn to their respective benches as they looked to change the course of the game. However, Real Madrid struck a second and decisive blow to Leganes shortly after the hour-mark. This time it was captain Federico Valverde, who despite being played out of position, got on the end of Arda Guler's assist for 2-0.
Jude Bellingham then put the icing on the cake as he made it 3-0 to Real Madrid after 85 minutes. Leganes looked hapless in the second half and could only match their first-half showing. They attempted two second-half shots as well, but neither were on target as Thibaut Courtois was handed an easy clean sheet.
Los Blancos held on to secure the win and the clean sheet as they maintain pace with runaway LaLiga leaders Barcelona. On that note, let's take a look at the visitors' player ratings.
