Barcelona midfielder Pedri has shared his thoughts on his role in the team after their 3-0 win over Stade Brestois on Tuesday, November 26. They beat the French side comfortably at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in the UEFA Champions League.

Pedri, who generally plays as an advanced 8 for the Blaugrana, operated in a traditional No. 8, or at times, in a double pivot against Brest. He was partnered in midfield with Marc Casado, with Dani Olmo in the No. 10 position. After the game, Pedri opened up about his position, saying (via Barca Blaugranes):

“I felt very good and I also like playing further back, with more contact with the ball, I feel very comfortable there.
“They didn’t give me the MVP and some people told me that I deserved it, but if they gave it to Cubarsi I’m happy because as long as they give it to someone from our team I’m satisfied.”

Pedri played 88 minutes against Brest and completed 84/93 passes. He completed 4/4 dribble attempts, won 12/14 ground duels, and made three tackles, as per SofaScore on November 27, 12 pm IST.

Pedri also spoke about his contract situation with Barcelona, with rumors suggesting he's set to sign a new contract that will expire in 2030. He said:

“I don’t know anything, but I always say that I’m doing very well here and I’ll talk to my agent."

Pedri's current contract with Barcelona will expire in 2026. The 22-year-old has made 162 senior appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals and providing 15 assists.

Barcelona bounce back after two winless games with a comfortable victory over Brest

The Blaugrana had suffered a 1-0 defeat against Real Sociedad in LaLiga at the Anoeta Stadium before the international break. They then blew a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 against Celta Vigo at the Balaidos Stadium on Saturday, November 23.

Barcelona, however, showed no signs of a lack of form against Brest and were comfortable for large parts. Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty in the 10th minute after he was deemed to have been fouled by goalkeeper Marco Bizot in the box. Dani Olmo then made it 2-0 in the 66th minute before Lewandowski completed the scoring in the second minute of stoppage time.

Barcelona had 76% possession and attempted 19 shots with eight being on target as compared to Brest's two total shots with none on target. (These stats are taken from FotMob as of November 27, 12 pm IST)

The Blaugrana moved into second place in the Champions League table before Wednesday's fixtures. They currently sit a point behind leaders Inter Milan. Brest, meanwhile, dropped to ninth but sit two points behind Barca.
