Liverpool handed huge boost in pursuit of 20-year-old Bundesliga sensation: Reports
Borussia Dortmund forward Jamie Gittens dreams of joining Liverpool or Manchester City, according to Bundesliga expert Christian Falk. The 20-year-old has caught the eye with the BVB this season, registering four goals and two assists from nine games across competitions.
His efforts have apparently turned heads at Anfield. The Reds have enjoyed a blistering start to Arne Slot's reign, but remain on the hunt for squad reinforcements.
In his column for Caught Offside, Falk insisted that the player could cost around €100m in January.
"Jamie Gittens… has his price. Dortmund won’t sell him in the winter, but if a Premier League club is willing to pay €100m, they will open negotiations and let Gittens go if he wishes to. Otherwise, they’ll wait and keep educating him with the goal of increasing his asking price," wrote Falk.
He continued:
“He’s currently contracted until 2028 without a release clause. I don’t know if he’s worth €100m right at this moment, but otherwise, he has to play another season at Dortmund next year and prove that he is!”
Falk went on to tip the Englishman to return to the Premier League in the future, naming Liverpool and former club Manchester City as possible destinations.
“If you previously played in England, you always want to go back and prove you’re good enough to play in the Premier League and just made a step in between. Jude Bellingham would have also returned to England had Real Madrid not been in the picture," wrote Falk.
He concluded:
“If you go to Dortmund, you always know this isn’t the final step in your career. That’s why players like Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland joined BVB. Gittens would be dreaming of going to a club like Liverpool and Manchester City – but he’s not cheap!”
Recent reports have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea also have their eyes on Gittens.

Liverpool endured a quiet summer transfer window this year, roping in just Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa. The Reds apparently wanted to sign Martin Zubimendi, but failed to convince the Spaniard to leave Real Sociedad.
Despite their impressive start to life under Arne Slot, the Merseyside club are expected to invest heavily in the squad in 2025. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah are all in the final 12 months of their contracts and are yet to sign a new deal.
The English right-back remains heavily linked with Real Madrid and could be on his way next year. Liverpool are working to tie all three down to new deals but could be forced to turn to the market if they fail in their endeavor.
