Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci in the 2025 summer transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo. Manchester City are also interested in signing the 23-year-old to replace the injured Rodri, albeit in the January transfer window.

Ricci has been a breakout star for Torino in the Serie A this season, and has attracted interest from across Europe's top leagues. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reported to have taken a liking towards him. The club are also known to have followed him over the last three years.

Madrid will be keen on bagging the central midfielder, who also has an excellent right foot to boot. He will be asked to play in the middle of the park while creating transitions from defense to attack. He can also help his more aggressive-minded teammates carve out niches for themselves.

Ricci has a contract with the Italian side till 2026, but Torino are reportedly working on an extension for quite some time now. Although it has not materialized as yet, it means that either Madrid or Manchester City will be able to get him for knockoff value in 2025. This is because there will be only one year remaining on his contract.

Ricci has also become a regular in the Italian national team, manning the side's central midfield duties alongside the hugely talented Sandro Tonali. He made his debut for the Azzurri in 2022. Ricci played in the U17, U19 and U21 categories for his country before moving on to the senior level.

Real Madrid need reinforcements in central midfield

While Real Madrid have a lot of experienced players in their midfield, Ricci can be touted as a replacement for the ageing Luka Modric next season. He will, however, have to contend with Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Edouard Camavinga if he decides to move.

The 23-year-old has been appreciated for his aerial duel-winning ability as well as positive touches in the opposition's box. Madrid, who are ranked in the second position of the La Liga table at the moment, will want to sign him to reinforce their midfield for next season.
