Fans took to X to call out Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard for their performances in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Friday, December 27. The duo failed to meet the fans' expectations and consequently got sticks for it.

As expected, Arsenal entered the match as top dogs, as they were keen to capitalize on Chelsea’s slip-up against Fulham on Thursday. Mikel Arteta’s men started mounting the pressure from the first kick of the game, and their efforts paid dividends in the 23rd minute. Kai Havertz put the Gunners ahead, turning home Leandro Trossard’s inviting delivery.

Arsenal’s defense proved too strong for Ipswich Town as the visitors didn’t register a shot on goal for the entirety of the game. The hosts had the opportunity to double their lead in the second half but couldn’t as they spurned glorious opportunities. They eased through the closing stages to secure three points and move to the second position in the Premier League table.

After the match, fans were unhappy with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard's display in the game. Martinelli lost possession 15 times, lost all the aerial duels he contested, and had the lowest rating (6.5) of all Arsenal’s starting XI as per Sofascore.

Trossard, on the other hand, has quite better stats. The Belgian lost possession 12 times, was dribbled past twice and had a rating of 7.7 as per Sofascore.

Here is how fans reacted to their performances below.

''Just send Martinelli, Merino, Trossard nd Jesus to Saudi bro I cant be asked to watch these guys play.'' A fan wrote.

Another tweeted:

''Martinelli & Trossard both need to be upgraded upon in the summer, both are bang average.''

’I’m very happy with the victory’’- Mikel Arteta on Arsenal’s performance after victory over Ipswich Town

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said he is delighted with his side’s performance in the 1-0 win over Ipswich Town at the Emirates. The Gunners have now gone above Chelsea on the league table and now sit behind leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand with six points.

After the match, Arteta said via the club’s website:

I'm very happy with the victory, with the clean sheet, and with big parts of the game. It's a really difficult opposition. We're playing so many games. You see that teams are winning for very small margins. Today we could have done the margins much bigger. At the end we didn't. But we held our nerves in the last few minutes, you know, to defend well in the areas that we had to do, and I'm very, very happy.’’

Arsenal will next be in action against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on New Year’s Day.
