Scottish commentator Charlie Mulgrew aimed a dig at Cristiano Ronaldo following Portugal's 0-0 draw against Scotland on Tuesday, October 15. Roberto Martinez's side could only manage a stalemate against Steve Clarke's side at Hampden Park.

Cristiano Ronaldo started the game up front as a number nine and did not have much joy. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner also looked visibly frustrated and boiled over after the final whistle fuming at referee Lawrence Visser.

Former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew, who was on commentary duty during the game, mocked Ronaldo. The former Scotland international took a dig at the Portugal international after he failed to control the ball.

Mulgrew's fellow commentator Andy Bargh said, as quoted by the SPORTbible:

“There's a hole in his boot!”

Mulgrew replied to Bargh:

“Don't often see that from Ronaldo, eh? Starting a motorbike! I did it plenty of times but you don't see it from him.”

After the game ended, Cristiano Ronaldo was seen fuming at the referee and threw his arms up into the air clapping sarcastically while walking off the pitch. Portugal, who won the Nations League in 2019, remain at the top of Group A with 10 points while Scotland are at the bottom with just one point.

When former Real Madrid and Chelsea star picked between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in ‘GOAT’ debate

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder Michael Essien picked Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi when asked to pick between the two superstars. Ronaldo and Messi's rivalry has divided the world of football over the years and Essien has chosen Ronaldo over his eternal rival.

Essien shared the pitch with Ronaldo on 30 occasions during his brief stint at Real Madrid on loan from Chelsea in 2012-13. He also featured eight times against Messi during his time at Chelsea and Real Madrid and won thrice while drawing five times.

On being asked to pick between the two, Essien insisted that while Messi is the best, Ronaldo is the more complete player. He told Copa 90 USA:

"He's the best [Messi] but when you compare him and Ronaldo, for me, Ronaldo is a complete player. Messi is talented but he's only left-footed. Ronaldo can jump, shoot, left, right."

Essien was one of the best midfielders in the world during his peak years at Chelsea. He joined the Blues in 2005 from Lyon and went on to make 256 appearances for the west London outfit, winning nine trophies in the process.
