Chelsea ready to bid £60 million to sign goalkeeper to replace Robert Sanchez - Reports

Chelsea have set their sights on Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, according to BILD (via Tribal Football). The Blues have Robert Sanchez as their No. 1 shot-stopper at the moment but the Spaniard has failed to inspire confidence this season.

Sanchez has registered three clean sheets from 15 games this season, operating exclusively in the Premier League. However, he has been error-prone and the London giants are looking for an upgrade.

Chelsea signed Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal this summer for a reported £20.7m fee. The 22-year-old has racked up four clean sheets from 11 games across competitions.

However, the Blues are planning to spend £60m on a new goalkeeper next year. The London giants have now zeroed in on Kobel and are ready to go for the kill in 2025.

The Swiss international has been in fine form for Dortmund this season, registering six clean sheets from 19 games. His contract with the German side runs until 2028, but he could be willing to leave the club if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Dortmund are eighth in the Bundesliga table after 14 games, five points behind RB Leipzig in fourth place. BVB are likely to demand £58m to allow Kobel to leave, which will also suit Chelsea's budget.

Chelsea are putting together final preparations ahead of their Premier League game against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday (December 22). The Blues arrive at the game in second place on the league table, two points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand.

Enzo Maresca's side are the most in-form team in the league at the moment and arrive at the game on a run of five wins in their last five league games. The London giants have won nine of their last 10 games across competitions, scoring 35 goals and conceding nine.

Chelsea have won 10 of their 16 games in the league this season, scoring 37 goals and conceding just 18. The Blues have also been flawless in the Conference League, where they sit at the top of the table, having won all of their six games.

The London giants secured a 5-1 win over Shamrock Rovers on Thursday (December 19) in the Conference League. Marc Guiu, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Barcelona this summer, scored a hattrick. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Cucurella also found the back of the net.
