Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. The England under-21 international has caught the eye of many this season following his performances in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League.
News about the youngster comes from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who says several scouts from the aforementioned clubs are watching the player (via @CFCPys). So far this campaign, he's made 23 appearances across competitions, bagging nine goals and five assists.
Should Bynoe-Gittens decide to move to either of these sides, he must be prepared to compete with multiple players for regular minutes on the left flank. At the moment, Liverpool are full of options in this area, with the likes of Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo competing with each other for a starting position.
Arne Slot also has the option of turning to Diogo Jota, a player who has struggled with injuries this season. Meanwhile, Chelsea also have a couple of choices in this position. Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto can operate down this channel, while Christopher Nkunku is also capable of deputizing.
If the 20-year-old can truly prove himself at these clubs, he will earn himself the opportunity to compete for top honors. Liverpool are currently leading the Premier League title race, while Chelsea are placed fourth and 10 points behind the Reds.
Borussia Dortmund will be in no rush to sell their attacker, given he's contracted at the Signal Iduna Park till the summer of 2028.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot believes that his side aren't to be considered chokers if they end up losing the Premier League title. His comments came after the team's 2-2 draw against Manchester United on Sunday (January 5).
Meanwhile, Chelsea, who seemed to be pushing the Reds at the top of the table, have gone winless in their last four league encounters. Claiming that there are loads of twists and turns in this competition, Slot said (via Express):
"But this week we have seen Chelsea lose against Ipswich, so that tells you it is impossible to look so far ahead. It is possible in the Eredivisie, but impossible here because there are so many good teams."
For now, Liverpool holds a six-point advantage over second-placed Arsenal at the top of the table, with a game in hand. Their next league fixture is an away tie at Nottingham Forest on January 14.
