Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly hoping to add Liverpool transfer target Rayan Ait-Nouri to his ranks in the near future.

The Red Devils, who are 12th in the Premier League table with just 16 points from 12 games, are expected to bolster their squad next January. They are likely to sign a new left-back with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both considered to be too injury-prone.

Earlier this week, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Manchester United are keen to sign a left-back who could start in Amorim's 3-4-3 system. The Italian said on his YouTube channel (h/t SPORTbible):

"Manchester United will sign a new left-back. Ruben Amorim is playing with the back three, but United want to go for a proper left-back. Amorim is very happy with Diogo Dalot [as he is] professional, can play several positions, is a top leader... but they need a player who can cover that position on a regular basis."

Sharing more thoughts on the Red Devils' transfer plans, he added:

"A new player in that position, left-back, remains a top priority. And from what I'm hearing, even after the [1-1 league stalemate at] Ipswich Town, the message from Amorim to [his club's board] is: 'We need a player in left-back position in 2025'. [It] could be January, could be summer, based on opportunities, based on price, based on several factors, but United want to go for a [left-back]."

Now, according to The Sun, the Old Trafford outfit are interested in luring Ait-Nouri away from Wolverhampton Wanderers. They are set to face stiff competition in their pursuit as Liverpool are also currently keeping tabs on the Algerian.

Ait-Nouri, who is allegedly on a £33,000-per-week deal now, joined Wolves from Ligue 1 outfit Angers for around £10 million in 2021. He has contributed 10 goals and as many assists in 129 total appearances for Gary O'Neil's side so far.

Manchester United in race for Liverpool target

According to Sky Germany, Manchester United have identified Liverpool-linked forward Omar Marmoush as a January transfer target. Eintracht Frankfurt are expected to demand a fee of around £50 million for the right-footed player.

Marmoush, who is an international teammate of Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, has been in stellar form for Frankfurt this season. The 25-year-old has produced 14 goals and 10 assists in just 17 games across competitions for his club.

Marmoush has a contract until June 2027 at the Bundesliga outfit.
