Manchester United are reportedly set to face competition from Bologna for the signature of Velez Sarsfield midfielder Christian Ordonez in the ongoing January transfer window. A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Serie A side are confident of getting this deal done (via Football Italia).
Their confidence seemingly stems from the fact that Santiago Castro, who was a former teammate of Ordonez, can convince the latter to join the club. With the 20-year-old's current contract ending in December this year, the player's $10 million release clause may have to be met to secure his services.
Ordonez largely operates in central midfield but is also capable of playing in deeper pockets. This seems to be an area where the Red Devils have a few options at the moment. Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, and Kobbie Mainoo are among the choices at Ruben Amorim's disposal. However, with the future of the Brazilian veteran uncertain at Old Trafford, Manchester United could have to bring in reinforcements.
Although they have identified Ordonez as a potential option, another unnamed Premier League club is looking at the player. To date, the Argentine has played 70 matches across competitions for his current team, bagging a goal and six assists.
A move to the Premier League from Italy would be a step up in the youngster's career. However, joining Bologna may be a better prospect, with the club sitting seventh in Serie A, while the Red Devils are struggling and placed 13th in the English top-flight.
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has reportedly agreed to leave Old Trafford and move to Saudi Arabia in the January transfer window. UOL report that the Public Investment Fund (PIF) are keen on signing the player for one of their multiple clubs (via Sport Witness).
The Saudi Arabia PIF have stakes in the likes of Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Al-Ettifaq and Al-Qadisiyah. It is believed that just one key detail needs sorting out before Casemiro can pack his bags and leave for the Middle East.
Since moving to Manchester United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, the Brazilian has made 105 appearances, bagging 15 goals and nine assists. He's won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup once each with the Red Devils.
