Argentine superstar Lionel Messi once called out Barcelona for disrespecting Luis Suarez after La Blaugrana sold the Uruguayan legend to Atletico Madrid in 2020.

Suarez joined Barcelona from Liverpool in July 2014. He bagged 195 goals and 113 assists in 283 appearances for the side across all competitions. Additionally, he's also the third-highest goalscorer in the club's history. However, despite his willingness to stay at Camp Nou, the Uruguayan forward was sold to Atletico Madrid.

After the deal was announced, Messi took to Instagram and stated that watching Suarez play for another club in LaLiga would be a strange experience. He wrote (via ESPN):

"It will be strange to see you in another shirt and even stranger to play against you. You deserved to depart for who you are; one of the most important players in the club's history, winning things as part of a group and individually. Not for them to kick you out as they have done. But the truth is nothing surprises me anymore."

In February 2020, Messi took to social media to call out former sporting director Eric Abidal for not being transparent within the club. At the time, the Argentine playmaker wasn't in a good relationship with former president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

In 2021, Messi was forced to leave the club after Barcelona couldn't offer him a new contract due to financial struggles. He featured for Paris Saint-Germain before joining Inter Miami in the US.

Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi are currently playing for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
