Almost 30 years later, he is set to return to the golf course for another round in Happy Gilmore 2.

On December 8, 2024, the Facebook account YODA BBY ABY shared Happy Gilmore 2's release date, plot, and official poster. According to the post, the sequel will depict Adam Sandler's character going up against his rival, Shooter McGavin, in another high-stakes golf tournament. It also claimed that the movie will drop on Netflix in March 2025.

Happy Gilmore 2 is definitely in the works, as confirmed by Netflix and Adam Sandler himself. However, the information mentioned in the Facebook post is completely false as YODA BBY ABY is a popular satirical account well-known for posting "100% satire and fake news."

In May 2024, Netflix announced that it was developing Happy Gilmore 2. Adam Sandler is set to reprise his role in the movie, which is written by Tim Herlihy and Sandler. Kyle Newacheck, who has previously worked on acclaimed shows like Community, Parks and Recreation, and What We Do in the Shadows, is set to direct the film.

Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen are also returning to play Happy's archnemesis, Shooter McGavin, and his love interest, Virginia Venit, respectively. Ben Stiller, who had an uncredited role as Hal in the 1996 film, will also make an appearance in the sequel. Moreover, The Leftovers star Margaret Qualley will also star in an undisclosed role.

Happy Gilmore 2 will feature a string of cameos from the likes of football player Travis Kelce, director Benny Safdie, wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman, rapper Kid Cudi, comedian Nick Swardson, talk show host Dan Patrick, and musician Bad Bunny, to name a few.

Other cameo appearances in the sports comedy film include professional golfers like Keegan Bradley, Corey Pavin, John Daly, Collin Morikawa, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, and Xander Schauffele.

While speaking on the Dan Patrick Show in December 2024, Adam Sandler revealed that the award-winning rapper Eminem will also be seen making a cameo in the upcoming film.

Happy Gilmore 2 went into production on September 9, 2024, and wrapped up filming on December 10, 2024. When asked about the film's release date on the Dan Patrick Show, Sandler said the sequel is eying a July 2025 release.

"I don't know 100%, but I think around July, not July 4th, but we're trying to get it done in time for July. You never know what's going to happen."
