Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Looking into the plot

British magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) arrives in New York City in 1926 to study magical creatures in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

After Niffler escapes, Newt accidentally swaps his suitcase with Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), a No-Maj (non-magical person) who wants to bake. Jacob unknowingly releases several magical creatures into the city after the swap by opening the suitcase.

Newt meets Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), a demoted MACUSA Auror while searching for the creatures. Newt is released from Tina's arrest for breaking magical law when the suitcase contains only Jacob's baked goods. Newt meets Queenie (Alison Sudol), who bonds with Jacob.

They discover a plot involving an Obscurial, a parasitic creature that kills magically suppressed people while trying to rescue the creatures. When Percival Graves (Colin Farrell), MACUSA's magical security chief, reveals himself as Gellert Grindelwald, who wants to allow No-Majs into the wizarding world, the story darkens.
