Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, directed by Chris Colombus, is a 1992 film starring Macaulay Culkin, Daniel Stern, Joe Pesci, and John Heard. Kevin, the protagonist of this holiday film, is separated from his family after inadvertently taking a trip to New York.
In NYC, Kevin learns that the Sticky Bandits are out again and will loot an old man's toy store before Christmas. Yet again it all falls on Kevin's young shoulder to stop the bandits at any cost.
A homeless woman, known as the Pigeon Lady, helps Kevin in his quest to stop the Sticky Bandits. The character of the Pigeon Lady was played by Irish actress Brenda Fricker in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
In Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Brenda Ficker portrayed the homeless woman, the Pigeon Lady, who was seen in Central Park with her pigeons. Despite his initial fear of her, Kevin, the movie's protagonist, became friends with her eventually. The pigeon lady saved Kevin from the Sticky Bandits (Marv Murchins and Harry Lyme) when they attacked him.
Although Kevin initially believed the Pigeon Lady to be rude, he subsequently discovered that she was compassionate and intelligent. In the end, he gave her two turtle doves as a gift and vowed to always be friends with her, after she saved him from being shot by the bandits.
Brenda Fricker is a 79-year-old Dublin-born actress who has appeared in several movies and shows, including Field (1990), A Time to Kill (1996), My Left Foot (1989), and more. The Irish actress has starred in 30 movies and TV shows.
In 2020, Brenda Fricker was also ranked number 26 by The Irish Times on its list of greatest film actors of all time. She became the first Irish woman to grab an Academy Award for the biopic, My Left Foot (1989).
Despite having such a successful career, she went on a long hiatus for several years, which stunned her fans and well-wishers, Later she made it known to her fans that she was battling depression and needed a break from acting to have better mental health.
On The Tommy Tiernan Show, the Irish actress described her low-key life and said:
"I live a very quiet life well under the radar and I drive a tiny car, own a cottage, that's about it. Talking to the wall quite a bit, talking to the dog, writing poetry, reading books, watching television. Nothing different than anybody else does, except being alone so much can make you talk to the wall a bit more than most people."
Bringing relief to her fans that she now feels good because of a "fantastic doctor," Brenda Fricker, the Home Alone 2 actress also said:
"Just yesterday, I visited the doctor who said...It was tough, but there was a fantastic doctor, Anthony Clare. He saved my life. He was exceptional with me. He really pulled me out of the depths. Just an incredible mind. He understood me and reached me. I always left feeling happy after seeing him. He made me feel good."
In 2012, as per Daily Mail, the Home Alone 2: Lost in New York actress admitted to her fans that she tried to commit suicide 32 times and also said that she ran out of money. However, she is doing fine better now as she told Anna Friel in a 2012 interview:
"I suffered from depression for 50 years. But now I go to therapist once a week, purely to have a conversation and to hear another human voice." [h/t: Daily Mail]
