News of former One Direction member Liam Payne's death broke out on October 16, 2024. According to AP News, the singer died after falling from the third floor of the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires as reported by the local police. The police also said that the fall resulted in extremely serious injuries and the singer's death was confirmed on the spot by medics.
While fans came forward at the Buenos Aires hotel where Liam was found dead and placed candles and flowers as tributes, the London World website announced that a memorial for the late singer will be held in Hyde Park on October 20, 2024, at around 2 pm. Fans of the singer are encouraged to bring letters and flowers as they will gather to honor the singer.
Liam Payne's memorial in London is expected to take place in Hyde Park at around 2 pm and the meeting point of the fans is yet to be decided. The website mentioned that this is one of the many memorial gatherings that will take place in Liam's honor on Sunday across Europe.

Liam Payne appeared as a contestant on The X Factor in 2008. But after being eliminated, he returned to the show in 2010 and was eventually placed with four other contestants in a boy band which became One Direction.
One Direction members Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik shared a joint statement via the band's official Instagram account on October 18, 2024, stating:
“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly."
The statement also mentioned:
"The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.”
As per the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office, Payne suffered multiple traumas and hemorrhages. However, the singer's toxicology reports are still pending. According to the Associated Press, authorities mentioned that substances were found in the singer's hotel room and the investigation carried out to date indicates that Liam was under the influence and by himself when he fell.
Moreover, police reached the scene of Liam Payne's death just after 5 pm local time after the hotel's manager called 911 complaining about a guest who "destroyed some objects in the room" and was "under the influence of drugs and alcohol." As per the communication of a local official mentioned by the Associated Press, Payne had "jumped from the balcony of his room," however, the authorities are yet to comment on the nature of the singer's fall.
Simon Cowell canceled the auditions of Britain's Got Talent shortly after the news of Liam's death came out. Further, Liam Payne's family expressed that they were heartbroken in a statement, as reported by The Mirror. They also stated that he will forever live in their hearts and they'll remember him as a "kind, funny and brave soul."
