Liam Payne's ex Maya Henry published a book summary that included bits which are eerily similar to the manner of his death on October 16, 2021. Local media reported that Payne, aged 31, passed away after he fell off the third-floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In her latest novel, Looking Forward, Payne's former fiance Maya Henry made some revelations about her allegedly toxic relationship with the singer. The book tells the fictional story of a couple named Mallory and Oliver, but Henry has accepted that much of the story was "inspired by true events" in an interview with PEOPLE. Henry also compared the protagonist Mallory's character to herself.

Shortly after Liam Payne's death, social media users pointed out that Henry's book included parts that are strangely similar to how the former One Direction member breathed his last by falling off the balcony. The excerpts circulating online read:

"She gets him to calm down and lies with her in bed but he is quickly triggered into another fit. He starts hitting himself and runs for the balcony. He starts claiming he is going to kill himself. She wraps her arms around him but he pushes her back into the room and against the wall."

Looking Forward follows the story of Mallory, an aspiring model who falls in love with Oliver, a singer and member of a former young boy band. Oliver's character is allegedly similar to Liam Payne and the relationship portrayed in Henry's book bears striking resemblances to her own relationship with the singer, per AS. The book also deals with sensitive issues such as substance abuse, abortion, suicide, violence and eating disorders.

Liam Payne and Maya Henry reportedly began dating in 2019, when she was 18 and he was 26. The couple got engaged in 2020 but split in the following year. However, the two got back together again before breaking up for good in 2022. Henry currently studies, Creative Writing, at New York University.

"Is this normal behaviour to you?" - Maya Henry accused Liam Payne of using extraordinary means to contact her since their 2022 break-up

A week before Liam Payne's death, Maya Henry had asked her lawyers to issue a cease and desist letter against her ex-fiance for reportedly constantly trying to contact her using extraordinary means.

Speaking to her followers on TikTok last week, Henry opened up about Payne harassing her since their break-up in 2022. The author said:

"Ever since we broke up he messages me, will blow up my phone, not only from his phone, it's always from different phone numbers too, so I never know where it's gonna come from."

She added that Payne not only contacted her but her mother, Azteca Henry as well.

"He'll create new iCloud accounts to message me - it's always a new damn iCloud account. Every time I see one pop up on my phone I'm like, "here we f***ing go again. Also, he will email me... not only me, but he'll blow up my mom's phone. Is this normal behaviour to you?," she explained.

Speaking on the podcast The Internet is Dead, Henry also discussed her novel Looking Forward, claiming it was inspired by real events. The Texan model indicated that while some of the events were fictionalized in the book, she left "a lot of things that are worse".

X users have been speculating about how much of the novel was based on her relationship with Liam Payne, with many quoting parts of the novel that are strangely similar to reports about the singer's allegedly toxic behavior towards Henry.

Maya Henry never confirmed how much of her novel, Looking Forward, was inspired by her relationship with Liam Payne. However, she shared details about their relationship while speaking to PEOPLE during the promotion of her book this year.

In a much-discussed chapter in her book, the protagonist, Mallory finds out she is pregnant with Oliver's child. She is excited to tell Oliver about the same and becoming a mother, but the male protagonist threatens to break up with her if she keeps the child.

Oliver forces her to abort the child, and Mallory attempts to do so. However, medical complications land her at the hospital. Henry admitted in her interview with PEOPLE that parts of the abortion storyline were inspired by real life events. She said:

"What I went through in real life is very similar to what Mallory went through in the book. I definitely did have some complications, and I did have to go to the hospital alone. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t have done it."

She added:

"But then also, if I were to have made a different decision, then I would’ve lost the person that I loved. There were definitely difficult conversations about it. But looking back now, things happen for a reason."

Henry also explained that her relationship with Liam Payne was not like a fairytale as many assume. She said:

“Every time I would tell people the story [of how we met], they would always say, ‘Oh my God, it’s like a fairytale, it’s like a movie. I feel like I had to put that in the book and take that inspiration, because it just doesn’t seem real."

She continued:

"I just became so desensitized to everything going on that I was like, ‘OK, this is my relationship, and this is how it’s going to be.’ And I feel like once you get out of [it], you're really like, ‘Oh my gosh, what was I doing, and why was I there?'"

Since Liam Payne's death, Henry's representatives told Daily Mail that the model is “obviously in shock" after hearing the news.
