Liam Payne's uncle Roger Harris says family is "trying to come to terms with" former One Direction singer's death

Amid the untimely death of One Direction star Liam Payne, his family and fans have been deeply impacted by the loss. On October 17, his grieving family revealed that they were "heartbroken." A family statement, as reported by The Mirror, read:

"We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time."

Meanwhile, Liam's uncle Roger Harris also expressed his feelings regarding the singer's demise and spoke to The Daily Mail. In the statement, Harris said:

"We are all just deeply saddened and trying to come to terms with it. I just hope everybody gives them some privacy really and allows them to come to terms with it. That's all I can say."

Another relative of the late singer also told the outlet that the family was totally devastated by the tragic news. Liam Payne was raised in Wolverhampton by his parents Karen and Geoff. Amid the crisis, Liam's older sisters, Nicola and Ruth had also arrived at the residence.

The 31-year-old singer who was in Buenos Aires attending Niall Horan's concert, had sustained multiple traumas along with a fractured skull. The incident reportedly happened in the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, where he fell from his third-floor hotel room.


Neighbors revealed that the community was devastated after being aware of the news of Liam Payne's demise

Neighbors stated that Payne's parents were seen leaving their £600,000 residence in a hurry, at around midnight. A local resident, who wanted to stay anonymous, told The Mail:

"They were seen leaving in a hurry at around midnight last night but I'm not sure if they had bags. You can't imagine what they are going through. I know Liam liked to get back here when he could. They will be utterly heartbroken as they were very close."

The neighbor further added:

"His home town always had a place in his heart. The community is going to be devastated. I think the sisters are there now. Your heart goes out to them."

Another neighbor also spoke about the incident surrounding Liam Payne, and offered condolences to Payne's family. A third one described the incident to be a sad one. They also explained that the late singer had a "nice" family.

While neither Liam nor his family lived in Wolverhampton anymore, the residents there remembered them and expressed their sadness after hearing the news. Some of them even recalled moments from the time when Liam Payne used to live there with his family and play outside his house.


As for the incident that happened in Buenos Aires, the hotel authorities called the police and reported an "aggressive" man who seemed to be intoxicated. Liam was reportedly dead when paramedics arrived at the scene at around 9 pm UK time. They further confirmed his identity using his passport.

Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the case.
