On Tuesday, November 12, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announced that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), once he takes office in January 2025. As reported by CNN, the 78-year-old wrote in his Trump-Vance Transition statement:

"Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies."

Trump compared this move with The Manhattan Project, a top-secret program developed during World War II. He explained the DOGE will team up with the White House and the United States Office of Management and Budget "to drive large scale structural reform" and build an innovative "entrepreneurial approach to Government".

The announcement, especially the current X owner's inclusion, soon drew reactions from netizens. One person commented on Pop Base's post that shared the news and called the term DOGE an idiocratic moment:

"calling it D.O.G.E. is such an idiocracy moment for a weird billionaire buying himself the government."

Several others critiqued Trump's decision to pick Elon Musk as one of the leading members of this new department. They brought up a few pointers, including Musk being South African-born.

"He’s not even American - He can’t even run Twitter correctly This has got to be a joke", commented another.
"This country is doomed and I’m so serious-", said one person.
"So he’s gonna be in charge of the exact corporation that’s supposed to keep all of his business in check…. Yea that’s a great idea", wrote another.
"this month just keeps getting worse like give us a break", one X user wrote.

Some implied Musk's consistent support for Trump might have been to secure a seat in the Cabinet.

"And there you have it, that’s why the mole man has been pushing so hard for Trump to win, yet liberals are the ones with the agendas and conspiracy theories", one X user wrote.
"Elon definitely helped him rig the votes", claimed another person.

Trump hopes for Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy-led DOGE to make "life better for all Americans"

Donald Trump said that he would vouch for Elon Musk and businessman-turned-politician, Vivek Ramaswamy, to bring changes to the Federal Bureaucracy efficiently, adding:

"At the same time, making life better for all Americans."

Trump stated the new government plans to eliminate the "massive waste and fraud" that, he claimed, was occurring throughout the Federal Government's annual spending of $6.5 Trillion. Referring to Musk and Ramaswamy, Trump wrote:

"They will work together to liberate our Economy, and make the U.S. Government accountable to "WE THE PEOPLE".

Donald Trump envisioned and expressed confidence in Musk and Ramaswamy to fulfill their goals within the DOGE before July 4, 2026. He said it would be the "perfect gift to America" on its 250th Independence Day.
