Snapped episode April Quick, re-airing on December 3, 2024, at 8 pm, dives deep into the details of the tragic events surrounding the death of Phillip Taylor.
On the night of September 10, 2010, Phillip Taylor was found murdered in a roadside park in Missouri. His death initially appeared to be a robbery gone wrong, but a thorough investigation pointed to a more personal motive. Taylor’s troubled relationship with April Quick, his former lover, and the connection to her life in Arkansas led authorities to suspect her involvement.
April Quick, who had a troubled relationship with Taylor, was linked to his murder after police found evidence connecting her to the crime. Taylor was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head and signs of a violent attack. Quick's life in Arkansas was central to the investigation, and her actions and statements, particularly about her relationship with her live-in girlfriend Aimee Herring, raised more questions than answers.
Aimee Herring and April Quick both pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and related charges. Herring, sentenced to 15 years in June 2011, will be eligible for parole later this year at 41. Quick, sentenced to 20 years in April 2012, will be eligible for parole in September 2025, at the age of 47.

Phillip Taylor was a mechanic who had problems with drugs and his personal life. He was discovered dead in Douglas County, Missouri, on September 10, 2010. He was found in the road, face down, with a gunshot wound to the left temple.
Even though there were signs of a theft—Taylor's wallet was missing—further investigation showed that he had been stabbed in the head from behind. The violence was thought to be personal by the police.
Phillip Taylor's troubled personal life became an important part of the investigation. The police found a letter that Taylor had written to April Quick, who was living in Arkansas at the time. People were suspicious of the letter because it asked for a legal response about visitation with their children.
Taylor's lost phone was found in Arkansas, and surveillance video showed that a woman bought phones that were linked to Quick. The woman was found to be Quick's live-in girlfriend Aimee Herring. This made a direct link between the murder and Quick's home.
In an interview with investigators, Quick claimed she and Aimee Herring were together on the night of the murder. Quick stated that they had gone to a movie and returned to find their house had been burglarized.
Despite this alibi, detectives confronted Quick with evidence that pointed to her involvement in the murder. She denied any premeditation, but her statement, "nothing is premeditated," suggested she knew more than she let on. Quick refused to cooperate further and requested a lawyer, leaving many unanswered questions about her role in Taylor’s death.
April and Aimee Herring's relationship was key to the investigation. Herring, who had been with Quick for several years and was raising her children, was also questioned but refused to cooperate. Evidence showed the couple had been involved in a burglary the same night Taylor was murdered. Herring's refusal to cooperate and her ties to the case raised suspicions about both women's involvement.
Despite the mounting evidence, it took time to find out charges against Quick. As per the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette newspaper, April Quick, 32, and Aimee Herring, 29, were charged with first-degree murder on September 16, 2010.
Being guilty of second-degree murder apart from other charges, April Quick received a 20-year prison sentence in April 2012. In September 2025, she will be able to get out of jail at the age of 47.
