Last Friday on WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns finally found the fifth member of his team ahead of the Men's WarGames Match against Solo Sikoa's version of the stable. The two teams will battle at Survivor Series: WarGames this Saturday.
CM Punk was introduced as the fifth member by a returning Paul Heyman, who has a close bond with all those involved in the match, most notably The Second City Saint and the Original Tribal Chief.
Heyman's return and his introduction of Punk certainly seemed to have caught Roman Reigns off guard. Nevertheless, the OG Bloodline has got much-needed momentum going into Survivor Series: WarGames.
With the dust now settled on a truly fantastic segment on SmackDown last week, let's look at three things we learned from CM Punk joining forces with Roman Reigns on the blue brand:
Since making his triumphant return to WWE last year, CM Punk has interacted with some of the company's biggest names in the ring, most notably Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre.
One performer who fans had been waiting to see him share a ring with was Roman Reigns. The two former world champions crossed paths inside the squared circle a decade or so ago before The Best in The World left the promotion.
With them now both at the top of their game as well as at the top of the card, their interaction last Friday was a big moment for WWE. Given that both are Paul Heyman Guys, Punk and Roman seem to believe that the Hall of Famer is more loyal to them than the other.
Last week, fans got an indication as to where Heyman's loyalty may lie, as the 59-year-old seemed to interact with Punk a whole lot more than he did Roman.
While CM Punk and the OTC will team up this weekend, it seems as though there is a lot more to unpack between the two in the coming months.
One of the biggest X factors in the upcoming Men's WarGames Match is ''Big'' Bronson Reed, who recently joined forces with Solo Sikoa and Co. Like Sami Zayn, Reed is not immediate family but has since been accepted by Sikoa and his group.
With CM Punk and Roman Reigns involved in this matchup, The Aus-zilla could easily get lost in the shuffle. However, given that The Straight Edge Superstar chose to go after Bronson last Friday, it shows that WWE has done a great job in making sure that the Australian does not feel out of place in this huge match and storyline.
Paul Heyman's return to WWE TV this past Friday was much awaited after Sikoa and the new Bloodline brutally kicked him out of the group this past June when the Hall of Famer refused to acknowledge The Street Champ as his Tribal Chief.
While Heyman returned as a foil to Solo Sikoa and Co. last week on WWE SmackDown, many eagle-eyed fans noticed something in Paul's attire and suggested the veteran may have a trick up his sleeve.
Not donning his usual suit and tie, Heyman wore a blazer with a red shirt underneath, something that many fans have seen Solo wear over the past year. With that in mind and Paul's history of backstabbing his clients, the former ECW honcho may betray Roman Reigns and CM Punk at Survivor Series: WarGames by siding with the new Bloodline.
Notably, Paul Heyman famously betrayed Brock Lesnar at the 2002 WWE Survivor Series PLE. Hence, history may repeat itself this weekend in Vancouver, Canada.
