4 ways The Rock can return to WWE following his latest appearance

WWE has had one of its biggest weeks ever this week. Monday Night RAW officially moved to and debuted on Netflix, plus NXT held the New Year's Evil television special. Both events featured title changes and big matches.

In addition to title changes and monumental matches, both shows also featured appearances by The Rock. The People's Champion was in front of the live crowd and hanging around backstage on both nights.

While many had high expectations for The Rock on these shows, his appearances were questionable at best. For the most part, he didn't quite come across as The Final Boss, and in some cases, potentially killed off major storylines for reasons that aren't clear.

Now that the appearances are done and dusted, this article will look at four ways that The People's Champion can return in the future and what he might do whenever he does. Did he set up potential stories? Could some stories fans wanted to see still take place?

Below are four ways The Rock can return to WWE following his latest appearance.

#4. He could remain a babyface representative of WWE

The Rock's appearances on both WWE Monday Night RAW's Netflix debut and NXT New Year's Evil were puzzling. Prior to his absence, he was the evil and aggressive Final Boss character.

Upon returning to WWE this week, he still had The Final Boss outfit and entrance, but his personality was very different. Instead of being a heel, he was thanking everyone and serving more as a member of the board than anything else.

Moving forward, any future appearance by The Rock may be similar. Instead of being a character fans love to hate, he could be a Triple H, Shawn Michaels, or even Nick Khan-level neutral personality who is simply trying to represent the company in the best way possible. This might be disappointing to some, but it could be the approach taken.

#3. The Rock could bloody up Cody Rhodes

One of the most upsetting and confusing parts of The Rock's return on WWE RAW was his interaction with Cody Rhodes. The two men had a bloody rivalry last year, but instead of fighting him or taking shots at the champion, The Rock praised Cody and they showed respect to each other.

On NXT, The Rock potentially walked this back. Instead of sharing drinks with The American Nightmare, The Final Boss noted he's always 20 steps ahead and he may very well be plotting against the Undisputed WWE Champion.

While it would feel awkward given their RAW interaction, the next time The Rock appears, he might once again bloody Rhodes up. This would add heat to their program again and he could perhaps claim the kind and babyface behavior was a facade to sucker Cody in. The only question is if this would make Rhodes look foolish, but it might happen anyway.

#2. He could be the High Chief and try to take over The Bloodline

The Bloodline had a big match on WWE RAW's Netflix premiere. Roman Reigns went one-on-one with Solo Sikoa in Tribal Combat. The No Disqualification Match was set to decide who the true Tribal Chief and owner of the Ula Fala would be.

In the end, Roman Reigns managed to defeat Solo Sikoa, despite some interference from both The New Bloodline and The O.G. Bloodline. Afterwards, The Rock showed respect to The Tribal Chief.

Notably, though, The Rock was glaring at Roman throughout much of the segment. Some have overlooked it, but The Tribal Chief may soon have to face the wrath of The High Chief. This is an even higher ranking within the family, and thus could be a clash between two of the biggest stars ever. When The Rock returns, he might challenge for the Ula Fala and The Bloodline as a whole.

#1. The Rock could feud with Ethan Page

The highlight of The Rock's past two nights arguably came in the form of a backstage segment on WWE NXT. The Final Boss made a surprise appearance speaking with "All Ego" Ethan Page.

The former All Elite Wrestling star has had serious issues with Ava, The Rock's daughter. The Rock and Page had a back-and-forth segment, which was both cordial but also one with a warning. If Ethan wants to be on good terms with The Rock, he has to be on good terms with Ava.

Page agreed, but glared at Ava on his way out. Supposing things don't improve with the two WWE personalities, The Rock may have to return and feud with Ethan. Given that The Final Boss predicted Page would soon be on the main roster, it might just take place on RAW or SmackDown.
