4 WWE stars who could return and win the Women's Intercontinental Championship

WWE broke huge news during Monday Night RAW. Adam Pearce revealed to the live crowd and then to television viewers that the Women's Intercontinental Championship will be coming to the red brand.

This comes after the news from SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis that the Women's United States Title would be on the blue brand. A tournament for the Women's US Title has begun and the first-ever winner is set to be crowned at Saturday Night's Main Event next month.

Information regarding when the first-ever Women's Intercontinental Champion will be crowned is still limited, but action will begin next week. This means no talent has been confirmed yet, although numerous stars have expressed their interest in competing for the prized belt.

This article will look at stars not currently active who could return and win the belt. This includes someone whose contract allegedly expired earlier this year, one of the most decorated performers in company history, and other names fans know and love. Who could return and win the belt immediately?

Below are four WWE stars who could return and win the Women's Intercontinental Championship.

#4. Becky Lynch could return to WWE soon

Becky Lynch is one of the greatest female performers in WWE and pro wrestling history. As The Man, Becky became arguably the most popular women's wrestler ever. With her success came multiple world title reigns and even a main event win at WrestleMania.

The Man's contract with WWE allegedly expired several months ago, after she dropped the Women's World Championship to Liv Morgan. With that being said, Big Time Becks has made it clear that she's not done with pro wrestling quite yet.

As a result, The Man could return as part of the Women's Intercontinental Championship Tournament. In many ways, her run as the NXT Women's Champion could have been a test drive to see how a women's mid-card belt would work on RAW. It went smoothly, so why not have her hold the new title?

#3. Charlotte Flair is the most decorated female star

While Becky Lynch is arguably the most popular female wrestler in WWE history, Charlotte Flair is the most decorated. The Queen is a 14-time world champion, two-time NXT Women's Champion, and a former Women's Tag Team Champion.

Unfortunately, Flair has been away from WWE television for around a year now. She had a big-time match with Asuka where a move on the ropes went awry. Charlotte suffered a leg injury and has been absent ever since.

Given how decorated she is, Flair would surely want to hold a new title for the first time ever. Charlotte returning as part of the RAW roster and winning the new belt would make for a great moment and only further add to her already incredible legacy.

#2. Alexa Bliss has been absent for almost two years

Alexa Bliss is another very successful star. She is a multi-time world champion, having won gold on both Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown. Alexa is also a multi-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion.

While The Goddess is a beloved figure, WWE fans haven't been able to watch her compete for quite some time. Alexa last wrestled at the 2023 Royal Rumble event where she lost to Bianca Belair. From there, Bliss became pregnant and has been gone ever since.

There is a chance that The Goddess could return in time to win the Women's Intercontinental Championship. Winning a title immediately after two years away from the ring would be an incredible moment for one of the most loved performers in the company. Fans would explode seeing Bliss hold gold again.

#1. Asuka is a legendary star

The final entry on this list is The Empress herself, Asuka. The Japanese star is arguably the greatest NXT Women's Champion of all time and has held numerous world titles on WWE's main roster too.

The former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion has also been out of action due to an injury. Prior to that, she was part of the Damage CTRL faction alongside Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, and Kairi Sane. She will likely return still part of the stable.

Both Kairi Sane and Dakota Kai have made it clear that they want the Women's Intercontinental Title and will likely be part of the tournament to crown the first champion. Asuka could return and also enter the tournament, ultimately winning it. If she has a run with this belt like she did with the NXT Women's Championship, the gold could become one of the most prestigious women's titles in wrestling.
