Triple H was one of WWE's most featured in-ring competitors before replacing his father-in-law Vince McMahon as the company's creative figurehead. In a recent interview, Maven Huffman revealed how The Game allegedly disliked him during his WWE run.
In 2001, Maven earned a WWE contract after winning the inaugural season of the Tough Enough reality show. He held the Hardcore Championship three times and feuded with The Undertaker after eliminating the WWE icon from the 2002 Royal Rumble match.
Speaking to Conrad Thompson on Ad Free Shows, Maven claimed Triple H was not a fan of his:
"Nope. Absolutely not. Not at all. Bingo, absolutely [Triple H had a problem with Maven's route into WWE]. I think he had more respect for, and rightfully so, he respected the way the guys toiled and the way the guys would pack four into a car and drive for an entire weekend to get paid 25 dollars if they're lucky." Maven's WWE career ended in 2005 after a four-year run. He auditioned to be a WWE commentator in 2020 but discussions fell through due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his WWE stint, Maven shared the ring with legends including Batista, Randy Orton, and The Rock. He was also part of Brock Lesnar's impactful debut on the post-WrestleMania 18 episode of RAW.
While Maven's path to WWE stardom was unconventional, he believes Triple H would have taken the same opportunities had they been offered to him:
"My belief has always been I didn't invent Tough Enough, and I can't name one person who, if given that opportunity when they were trying to break in, would not have taken it. Him included." [0:38 – 0:56]
Maven tells stories from his wrestling career on his Maven Huffman YouTube channel. The 47-year-old recently hit the 500k subscriber milestone.
