Last night on WWE RAW, Adam Pearce made a historic announcement as he introduced the brand-new Women's Intercontinental Championship. Among many female stars from the division, Asuka hinted at capturing the Women's IC Title upon her potential return to the company.

The Empress of Tomorrow's last in-ring match was at Backlash 2024 in May. She and Kairi Sane lost the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair at the premium live event in France.

Asuka has been out of in-ring action since losing the bout due to an unfortunate knee injury. As of now, there's no exact date for the return of the 43-year-old veteran.

However, things could change soon. Shortly after WWE announced the Women's Intercontinental Championship, Asuka expressed her interest in the new title on X (formerly Twitter).

WWE champion says she can't wait for Asuka's return

Given that one-half of The Kabuki Warriors teased going after the Women's Intercontinental Championship, fans can expect her return soon or later. Meanwhile, Nia Jax is looking forward to a match with Asuka.

The Empress of Tomorrow and The Irresistible Force last faced each other in a singles match on the November 9, 2020, episode of Monday Night RAW. The clash ended in a disqualification.

In an interview with Die Woche, the current WWE Women's Champion acknowledged Asuka as one of her toughest opponents, praising her strength and explosiveness. Nia Jax noted she is looking forward to future encounters with the Damage CTRL member upon her return.

"One of my toughest opponents has been Asuka… She’s incredibly strong and she’s incredibly explosive. She’s definitely a tough opponent. Love getting in the ring with her, love working with her. I can’t wait till she comes back. I hope we go head-to-head but Asuka’s one of my toughest," she said.
