WWE Superstar Chelsea Green has emerged as a fan favorite on the blue brand. The Hot Mess, however, has yet to win her first singles title in the Stamford-based wrestling promotion.
On the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown, the 33-year-old won the triple threat match featuring Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport to advance into the next round of the ongoing WWE Women's United States Championship tournament. She will lock horns with Bayley to earn an opportunity to qualify for the final scheduled for Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14.
Ahead of her match against The Role Model, however, Chelsea Green suffered a huge setback. The former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion faced RAW Superstar Zelina Vega in a No. 1 contender's match for the Women's Speed Title. The LWO member hit her opponent with a Sunset Flip to score a win with just under a minute remaining to qualify for the quarterfinal.

Former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo has backed Chelsea Green to become the inaugural Women's United States Champion.
On the latest episode of BroDown with Mac Davis, Russo pointed out that Green has put forth impressive performances week after week. The 63-year-old added that it would be the right time to reward her with a title. Russo believes that Chelsea will go the distance and win the tournament to claim a singles title for the first time.
"There are just times when it's just time to give somebody a belt. She [Chelsea Green], to me, has done such a great, great job and has really been lost in the shuffle. She continued to deliver week after week and I just think there comes a time when you need to reward somebody. And I wouldn't be surprised if they wind up putting the belt on her coming out of this tournament," he said. [From 12:00 onwards]

Chelsea Green's partner, Piper Niven, was scheduled to face Jade Cargill and Michin in a first-round match of the WWE Women's United States Championship tournament. However, The Storm was replaced by Lash Legend after being taken out by a mysterious attacker last week on SmackDown. It remains to be seen who will be crowned as the inaugural champion.
