Several former WWE wrestlers have returned since Triple H replaced his father-in-law Vince McMahon as the head of creative in 2022. In a new video, Maven Huffman disclosed what happened when his name was recently mentioned behind the scenes.

Maven worked for WWE between 2001 and 2005 after winning the first season of the Tough Enough reality show. The 47-year-old is arguably best remembered for feuding with The Undertaker. He also held the Hardcore Championship three times.

On his Maven Huffman YouTube channel, Maven revealed how the idea of him returning to WWE was allegedly "shot down" by a higher-up:

"I ran into a current WWE employee and, no, it's not any wrestlers. This employee informed me that they not only went to bat for me but tried to encourage and tried to suggest possible ways of utilizing me, utilizing the talents that I may possess now. This person told me that not only was the answer no but they were actually shot down mighty quickly." [6:33 – 7:03]

Maven's video ended with him getting out of his car at the Stamford-based promotion's Performance Center training facility in Orlando, Florida. The cryptic ending prompted speculation in the comments section that he could return to the company after all. He has previously made no secret that Triple H disliked him during his first run with the company. In a separate interview with Ad Free Shows, he claimed The Game did not appreciate how he entered the wrestling industry.

How Maven reacted to WWE seemingly rejecting him

Over the last year, Maven has amassed 500k subscribers on YouTube. His popularity led some to speculate whether he could return as an on-screen persona or wrestler.

After finding out the company had no interest in him, Maven accepted the decision and quickly moved on:

"I wish I could say it upset me, made me sad, or even disappointed me in some way, but the fact of the matter is it just didn't. The one thing I've been able to do over the last 20-something years is be resigned to accepting the fate that is in front of me, not wishing I could alter or change things that are indeed behind me." Maven held talks with WWE in 2020 about possibly becoming an announcer. However, the discussions ended after the company began releasing talent as a cost-cutting measure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
