Gunther has surpassed 100 days as World Heavyweight Champion. A former WWE writer recently made a bold prediction about the title reign of The Ring General.
The 37-year-old last defended his championship on the October 7 episode of Monday Night RAW when he defeated Sami Zayn. Gunther will now put his title on the line against Damian Priest at Survivor Series: WarGames. The two superstars squared off earlier this year at SummerSlam when the leader of Imperium captured the World Heavyweight Championship from The Archer of Infamy after the latter was betrayed by his former Judgment Day teammate Finn Balor.
On his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. predicted the outcome of the upcoming World Heavyweight Championship Match between Gunther and Priest, claiming The Ring General would come out on top.
"Gunther and Damian, Gunther is never losing that title, right? No, they're making Damian look so good, and his promos are so much better in this storyline than in the storyline that he lost, that I'm sad he's gonna lose this time. Like, they should have switched the promos and switched the victories. His promos are the promos of a winner, and I don't think he can win this match that they have coming up," he said. Earlier this month, Gunther suffered a defeat against the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in a Crown Jewel Championship match in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
On a previous episode of his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, Freddie Prinze Jr. claimed the Stamford-based company booked The Ring General to go against Priest at Survivor Series to build him up after his recent loss at Crown Jewel.
"Unless they pressed pause on the Damian Priest story, and that's the reason they're gonna give this another shot, which it doesn't feel like that to me, it feels like they need someone who looks like a legit contender to re-establish Gunther after that loss at Crown Jewel that he's the man," he said.
It would be interesting to see whether Gunther would defeat Priest again at the upcoming WWE PLE or The Archer of Infamy would succeed in recapturing the World Heavyweight Championship.
