Grayson Waller has discussed his relationship with his tag team partner Austin Theory. He acknowledged that there was an issue between them, but stated that they're currently on good terms.
WWE teased a rift between the two stars for several months on SmackDown. On multiple occasions, it seemed like the former United States Champion was going to snap and attack the Aussie star, which would lead to a babyface turn. However, it doesn't seem like there'll be a double cross anytime soon.
During a recent appearance on Going Ringside, Grayson Waller was asked about his relationship with Austin Theory. He said they're still close, even though they've had some issues lately.
"Dude, we're best mates, me and Theory. I would say the best tag team in the world right now. Obviously, we're having some issues trying to, like, tighten up our stuff and start hitting our strides like we did at 'Mania earlier in the year. But the SmackDown tag division right now is pretty heavy. You know, they've just brought in the Motor City Machine Guns, they’ve been tagging together for 20 years almost. Me and Theory, have only been tagging for about a year, so we've kind of got to find our advantages and work our way back to those goals," said Waller. [6:12-6:38]
A-Town Down Under walked out of WrestleMania XL Night One as the new WWE Tag Team Champions. They lost it to DIY during an episode of SmackDown in July.
When asked about his plans for next year, Grayson Waller stated that he and Austin Theory want to become tag team champions again.
"I think 2025 is going to be a big year, and whether that's with Austin Theory, maybe we do our own thing - who knows? That's the fun thing about the new year: new things happen. And especially with WrestleMania coming up in Vegas, it's going to be massive. So, me and Theory, right now, our focus is on those tag team championships. Whoever has them, we need to take them," said Waller. (7:35-7:56]
The Motor City Machine Guns won't just sit and watch Grayson and Waller take their tag titles. They'll undoubtedly put on a fight to prove why they're holding the gold.
