Sometimes, opportunities in WWE don't come by, and superstars have to make their own. Recently, Grayson Waller stated his partnership with Austin Theory gave them both opportunities on the blue brand.
Last year, Grayson Waller formed a tag team with Austin Theory, and the pair became one of the most successful acts on Friday Night SmackDown. The duo often spent time in the ring with veterans and around high-profile feuds before having their own success on the brand.
In an interview with The Wrestling Classic, Grayson Waller addressed his partnership with Austin Theory. The former WWE Tag Team Champion stated that had the two not been a team, they might not have gotten good opportunities as singles competitors on the brand.
"I think we've had a lot of opportunities that we might not have had if we were both doing singles at the same time. We've been in there with Cody [Rhodes], Randy [Orton], and Kevin [Owens]; multiple times. We've won the Tag Team Championships, we've been on big shows, and I think it's the advantage of us being a team and us being so driven and working hard together has given us those opportunities," Waller said. Earlier this year, WWE decided to split the Undisputed Tag Team Championships and made the belts brand-exclusive after WrestleMania XL. Grayson Waller and Austin Theory were at the forefront of the division as they captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in Philadelphia.
Later, Triple H and Nick Aldis introduced new titles for a new era, and A-Town Down Under became the inaugural WWE Tag Team Champions. In the coming months, they had a few successful title defenses before they lost the titles to Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, aka #DIY.
The two are currently not on the same page and it looks like they'll go their separate ways in the near future when one star turns on the other.
