Paul Heyman has naturally made friends and enemies in his storied wrestling journey. While not an adversary, one wrestling veteran who isn't on good terms with Heyman slammed a major aspect of his persona.

On the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, Vince Russo acknowledged the fact that he didn't see eye-to-eye with Paul Heyman as a human being. Despite this, he believed that the decision to turn The Wiseman heel would be wrong due to his popularity.

Vince Russo also criticized the seemingly repetitive nature of Heyman's promos.

"I'm not a fan of Paul Heyman. Put that aside. The guy has been doing 'Ladies and gentlemen' forever. It's old to me. I could not imagine (...) this is the equivalent of Stone Cold coming out in 2024 and saying 'I'm going to whoop you because Stone Cold says so'. Heyman has been doing the same shtick forever. We've talked about the Pavlovian dogs. Heyman is going to come out and say 'Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman' and we're all going to roar. I'm tired, I'm bored with it." (11:06 - 12:00)

Russo even said that it wasn't a personal jab at Heyman. He mentioned other stars he believed had run their course because of their longevity.

"It's not just a knock on Heyman, that to me is anything that's just run its course, man. To me, that guy has run his course. New Day has run its course. The Miz has run his course. I can go up and down the list and ok, great on the WWE for being loyal. Give them a job somewhere else in the company. To just come out and recite that same promo for ten years? I would've gotten sick of Lou Albano if he cut the same promo for ten years." (12:01-12:40)

Last week, Paul Heyman made his first WWE appearance since June 2024. Upon his arrival, he introduced CM Punk as the fifth member of The OG Bloodline for WarGames.

Paul Heyman revealed he isn't a big fan of having several titles

With WWE introducing the Women's Intercontinental and United States championships, it has started a debate on whether there are too many titles on the main roster. Many argue that the handling of the Women's Tag Team Championship over the last five years is the perfect example of that. Meanwhile, the World Tag Team Championship on RAW has hardly been part of regular TV.

Paul Heyman doesn't seem to be a fan of too many titles either. In an interview with CBS Sports' Shakiel Mahjouri, Heyman specified that during his time as the head writer of SmackDown, he opposed having a mid-card title because he felt it watered down the existing ones.

"Yeah. I’m not a big fan of a multitude of titles unless you can give them enough time. We had proper focus at that time on the championships that we held and didn’t feel that we needed more championships to tell better stories, and felt that therefore, the introduction of more championships only waters down the championships that we already have the spotlight on at the moment," he said. The Wiseman said if a company was able to make multiple titles work, it should consider adding another. However, if it was struggling to make existing championships relevant, it was probably worth scaling down a bit.

Many would argue that NXT did a fantastic job of making the North American Championship on the men's side relevant, while Kelani Jordan impressed viewers as the inaugural Women's North American Champion. Whether it translates to the main roster or not has yet to be seen.
