John Cena might be rumored to be slotted for a match against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. However, his father would prefer to see him face a 19-year veteran and not The American Nightmare.

As you probably know, John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes is a rumored direction for WrestleMania 41. There's a lot of confusion surrounding this as Cody Rhodes was previously rumored to be facing The Rock at WrestleMania 41. But The Rock seemingly reconciling with him on the RAW on Netflix premiere has led to many speculating that those plans are on hold as of now.

Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter asked Cena's father about this potential match.

John Cena Sr. admitted that he would prefer to see his son face the 19-year veteran and current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at WrestleMania 41. While stating that he has nothing but kind words for Cody Rhodes, he personally considers Gunther the "best of the best" right now:

"I think that right now, and I have nothing against Cody Rhodes, I have nothing but good things to say about Cody. If you remember when Randy Orton was kicking the stuffing out of me it was Cody that came down and tried to make the save. I have nothing but good words to say about Cody Rhodes. I think Gunther is at the peak of his career. He's the best of the best - and that's not taking anything away from Cody Rhodes. Because someday I'd like to see Cody vs. Gunther - Winner Take All. I'd love to see that happen at some point. But I think Gunther vs. Cena would be the match. I think that's the person he should face - the best of the best."(8:29-9:10)

John Cena's push for a WrestleMania in London was backed by Cody Rhodes

In Money in the Bank 2023, John Cena made an appearance and got a hero's welcome from fans in London. That pop turned even bigger when he declared his reason for coming out in the first place - that he wanted to see WrestleMania in London.

In an interview with BBC5 Live, Cody Rhodes fully backed the idea of WrestleMania in the UK that John Cena pitched:

"If I’m aiming, it would be cool to get it [in the UK] in the next five years," Cody Rhodes said about the prospects of hosting the big event in the UK. “There’s some really big venues over here that could host a WrestleMania. I think American fans would jump at the chance to come to a WrestleMania [overseas], whether that that be in Manchester or London, I think they’d go nuts for it."

The Wembley Stadium is the most obvious option to host WrestleMania. The only issue to sort out will be the time difference and no doubt having the Grandest Stage Of Them All accessible to other fans in Europe would lead to one of the best live environments in wrestling history.

Nick Khan and Triple H went to London to speak to Mayor Sadiq Khan about the possibility of WrestleMania in London, but it looks like that could be on hold for a while. Indianapolis is expected to host WrestleMania at some point in the next few years.
